The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) reports a decline in the number of graduates with accounting degrees and a drop in exam takers and pass rates. This trend, coupled with the findings of a Deloitte poll revealing talent retention challenges for accounting and financial positions, highlights the rising demand for accountants in both the public and private sectors.

The problem was that accountants were not granted work permits. While those studying for master’s degrees in technology in the US were granted a three-year work visa, on the other hand, those pursuing master’s degrees in accounting were only granted a one-year work permit.
