Is NEET the most difficult exam in India? Well, if you are planning your medico dreams in India, handling the NEET is the biggest challenge!

We are not lying, without NEET, your white-coat ambitions have a hard time surviving. Medical aspirants pay big bucks to become a doctor in India without NEET exams.

In this blog, let us look into the NEET examination that made students question their choices.

Is NEET that Hard?

NEET syllabus indeed looks like some mashed-up version of all the science books. Are you good at memorizing your science textbooks?

Unfortunately, with this standardized examination, memorization will never work. All you have to do is understand the concepts and become a real researcher!

NEET isn’t about raw difficulty; it’s about strategy. Think of it as a brain workout: solve enough problems, and you’ll unlock superpowers. Okay, maybe not actual superpowers, but you’ll be one step closer to that white coat.

Is NEET that hard? Well, it’s like climbing a mountain. Tough? Yes. Impossible? Nope. Unless, of course, you insist on carrying unnecessary baggage like procrastination, self-doubt, and your Netflix subscription.

3 Times NEET Pattern Made the Students Question Their Choices

  1. NEET 2016

Here’s what students had to say about the exam:

Physics: Physics stole the spotlight as the toughest section of NEET 2016. Questions required strong conceptual clarity and application skills.

Many students found the numerical problems time-consuming, and a few even dubbed them “mini puzzles.”

Chemistry: The Chemistry section struck a balance. While Physical Chemistry had tricky numerical questions, Organic Chemistry leaned towards straightforward application-based problems.

Inorganic Chemistry was more memory-based, offering some relief.

Biology
Biology, the lifeline for most students, was considered moderately difficult.

While many questions came straight from the NCERT syllabus, some required extra knowledge, catching unprepared students off guard.

2. NEET 2018

During NEET 2018, 25% of the questions were extremely difficult making students walk out of their exam hall saying ‘Been there, done that!’.

The long calculative questions of NEET 2018 made students waste their time on one question to escape negative marks.

Physics: The drama queen of the trio. This section was like that one friend who always complicates simple plans. Time-consuming numerical problems had students wishing for a time-turner.

Chemistry: The balanced middle child. Neither too hot nor too cold, this section was a mix of straightforward and moderately challenging questions. A solid grasp of NCERT concepts was your best ally here.

Biology: The generous bestie. Mostly sticking to the NCERT script, it threw a few curveballs but was largely accommodating. Those who paid attention in class probably had a mini celebration.

3. NEET 2021

1. Biology: Straight from the NCERT Bible

The majority of questions (85–90%) were directly NCERT-based. A few questions required higher-order thinking but were still manageable for well-prepared students. Equal weightage was given to Botany and Zoology.

2. Chemistry: A Mixed Bag

Organic Chemistry: Application-based questions that required conceptual clarity.

Inorganic Chemistry: Straightforward, mostly NCERT-focused.

Physical Chemistry: Time-consuming numerical problems tested students’ calculation skills.

Students with a strong grasp of NCERT concepts found this section predictable.

3. Physics: The Brain Teaser

Numerical problems were lengthy and required precise time management. Conceptual clarity was a must to solve tricky questions.

A significant portion of the section was application-based, making it the hardest among the three subjects.
